I had the pleasure of growing up in Corpus Christi. How was it growing up here? Well, I grew up in a house a couple of streets over from the beach. Honestly, I'm grateful I had that experience growing up. Days were spent surfing and nights ended in bonfires. I went to a small private high school where I spent a lot of time day dreaming. When I wasn’t day dreaming or playing sports, I was entertaining the idea of a career in medicine. I ended up graduating and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. I had an amazing time and learned a lot. After some more day dreaming and attending some classes, I graduated with a Biology degree. Soon after, I moved to Houston and attended the UT Houston Medical School. I spent four years in H town before heading back to my hometown and joining this awesome residency. The rest is history.

So, what makes this residency so awesome? It’s simple. The people. I didn’t have the pleasure of rotating at our program but had a great experience at my interview. Lets be honest, residency can be stressful some times. The people you work with are so important. You want to be around people that work hard but have fun, too. That’s us. Our attendings are great. They constantly teach and have helped me through a lot of crazy moments. My fellow residents are amazing. Everyone always finds the time to joke and laugh. I love that.

That being said, our ED acuity is high and the training here is exactly what I wanted. Hope you take a closer look at our program. It may be exactly what you want, too.
