Didactic Program

Clinical experience must be associated with a strong didactic curriculum in order to supply the knowledge necessary to develop complete emergency physicians.  The didactic program is a varied and rigorous program developed to complement the clinical experience.  The didactic program is designed to provide information, stimulate thought, and instill a desire for more knowledge.  The program consists of greater than 250 educational hours per year including:

            Grand Round lectures- every Thursday morning

            Morbidity and Mortality conference- monthly

            Trauma Morbidity and Mortality conference- monthly

            EKG stimuli conference- bimonthly

            Radiology stimuli conference- monthly

            Morning report / Oral board scenarios- 3 times per week

            Procedural laboratory- monthly

            Journal Club- monthly

            Simulation Center scenario- weekly

            Year Directed Conference (each PGY class)- monthly
